"Essential Elements 2000 - Book 2" is the follow-up to the outstanding beginning "Book 1" from the Essential Elements series. This comprehensive band method teaches all of the basic skills necessary to play the instrument and reviews and reinforces previously-learned material. The book features 198 short songs and etudes (from composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, and Sousa to name a few) which are used to learn new notes, rhythms and styles. In addition, there is a section for individual study. (The printed piano accompaniments are included for this section.) As an added bonus, this book features a guide to creating music, rhythm studies, and a detailed reference index. Rounding out the book is a short lesson on music history, a lesson on music theory, a fingering chart, and a CD. The CD provides accompaniments for lessons 1 - 55. This book series is clearly the best in its class. We recommend this book (and the optional 2 CD set which accompanies lessons 56 to the end of the book) for all beginning instrumentalists, regardless of age.

Every oboe player needs a good solid collection of solo literature with piano accompaniment in their library. This collection features thirty works by composers like Bach, Dvorak, Hanson, Corelli and others. A unique feature of this collection is that the works vary in difficulty, so the book will be used for a long period of time. Younger players will be able to start with the level two works while more advanced students may start working on the level four and five works. No matter the level of the student, there are works in this collection to challenge all. | | |
